Every community has an origin. Our “Metropolis Community” is prior to the 1st edition of the FP Lab Metropolis in the 2018-19 academic year. Before, three parallel projects were already underway: Innobaix at the City Lab in Cornellà, with the Economic Development Agency of the AMB; Port Innova at the Port of Barcelona, and Circuit de Catalunya with the BCN Vocational Training Foundation. The three initiatives were based on the resolution of real challenges formulated by the participating companies, and which solved VET students with a process accompanied by open innovation.

A joint work, a good dose of institutional generosity and an enthusiasm that we have not lost!, added and expanded these projects to where we are now: the Metropolis FP Lab, a benchmark for innovation in VET. Promoted in its beginning by the AMB for the VET centers of all the municipalities of the metropolitan area, expanded sequentially in the territory with the participation of the Diputació de Barcelona; and with the support of the Barcelona City Council.

This work, in a natural way, has generated a common place. A community where VET centers, with students and tutors; companies and institutions with the different departments that formulate the challenges and the people they tutor; the city councils, the organizing team, people who have been collaborating over time … A community where we are very present because we share values and a clear commitment to talent in an inclusive way.

And also, naturally, the term “Metropolis Community” arose because it goes beyond the project itself and unites all this ecosystem around common values.

We want this Community to consolidate, grow and, above all, to remain cohesive and alive. We think that it is the best contribution we can make to training throughout the life of the territory.

The creation of the logo of the MetropolisFPLab was done by the students Raúl Adame and -lex Puertas of the CFGM Graphic Arts of the Salesians of Sarrià

The presentation of the image took place during the event that took place in the first edition of the program, in 2019, where the winning students of the MetropolisFPLab exposed their experience as a scholarship holder in the company through a training stay of 2 months and presented their final project. The event, held on November 26, 2019, was called From the idea to the final product” MetropolisFPLab: Result of innovation projects.

During the event, the two students who created the logo explained the process and phases of elaboration, connecting the image and its color with the essence of the program and showed the image for the first time.

The Metropolis project is growing so much that it was scaled up internationally under the name of EU Water Challenge VET Labs, where the company Agbar, part of the international group Veolia, committed to ecological transformation, launched a challenge to VET centers from different European countries and these had to solve it. Innavodorous and pedagogical, it was an absolute success! Find here all the information about the project https://www.fundaciobcnfp.cat/en/ka2-associo-per-la-cooperacio-eu-water-challenge-vet-labs/
