International Metropolis awards ceremony

On May 16, in Agbar, at the Barcelona School of Water, we successfully held the final awards gala of the EU Water Challenge VET Labs, an event organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ project. The event was inaugurated with an opening session that was attended by prominent members of the organization and the sector, such as Toni Bru, director of Human Resources in Agbar, and Jordi Castillo, head of European projects at the BCN FP Foundation, and general secretary of the FP Network.

The day continued with the presentation of the project, by Sol Bermejo, from the Foundation, and with exciting testimonies from the participants, who highlighted the positive impact of the experience on their learning and professional development.

We were able to count on the collaboration of Mr. Ole Helledie, a trainee in Mercantec. Mr. Ivan BARTRINA, professor of Water Management, at the Esteve Terradas I Illa Institute. Mrs. Sofie Thys, a Biotechnology student, at De Wijnpers, Mr. Ferre Van Herck, a Biotechnology student at De Wijnpers, and Mr. Stewart Tirado, a Mechatronics student at the Esteve Terradas I Illa Institute.

Next, the solutions proposed by the participating teams have been presented:

> The Tree Bunker by Imre DE CRAEMER and ,ge HELLERUP HYNKEMEJER

> The Second Life of Water, by Ferran SILLERO, Andreas A.M. OLESEN and Floor VANDENBERGHE

After a break for coffee, the awards ceremony was held, which honors outstanding participants, professional schools, and the winning group, The Tower, represented by Magnus Christian Alrø Andresen and Natalia Jiménez, and international collaboration between business students and teachers. A great celebration of a pilot project executed with all success.

3rd transnational meeting of the European project KA2 EU Water Challenge VET Hub

Between April 18th and 19th, the partners in the city of Aarhus, Denmark, held the third meeting of the project organized by the Danish center Mercantec.

During the meeting, the results of the prototyping workshop called Prototype VET Lab were presented. The workshop took place in February and involved participating groups who specified their ideas in a real prototype to provide solutions to the Agbar challenge on how to improve water management in the Metropolis robot city. Furthermore, the details of the next acceleration workshop and the awards ceremony on May 16th were discussed.

New phase of the EU Water Challenge.

Together with Xarxa FP, we are currently in Viborg where the three teams of the EU Water Challenge are working on their prototypes with the help of experts in 3D printing and prototyping, the projects are shaping up to be able to test them.

2nd transnational meeting of the European project KA2 EU Water Challenge VET Labs

The partners met on December 12 in Leuven (Belgium) for the second meeting of the project organized by the project partner De Wijnpers.

During the meeting, the results of the Creativity VET Lab or creativity workshop that was held in October were presented, in which the participating groups generated ideas around specific solutions to the challenge on how to improve water management through nature-based solutions (NBS) and make Metropolis a greener and healthier city. The next steps will be to start of the next workshop on prototyping and monitoring of ideas according to the evaluation criteria established by Agbar.

Creativity VET Lab at the EU Water Challenge VET Lab

This October we celebrated the Creativity VET Lab in Leuven, the second innovation activity within the EU Water Challenge VET Lab project. The 3 teams must solve the Aigües de Barcelona challenge: How do we improve water management through nature-based solutions to achieve greener and more sustainable cities?

The teams are already working on the first proposals: new ways to collect water and reuse it, structures to prevent flooding, canalization systems that differentiate between rainwater and “dirty” water…

All these ideas will have to be prototyped at the next meeting in Viborg. Let’s continue!

Creativity VET Labs- EU Water challenge:

The week of the Creativity workshop will take place from the 2 to the 6 of October, in which all teams will work to generate ideas in order to respond to the challenge launched by the international company Veòlia (Aigües de Barcelona).

The three teams, made up of students from the centre of Mercantec (Viborg, Denmark), from Wijnpers (Leuven, Belgium) and the Esteve Terradas Institute (Barcelona), will be working together in the centre of Leuven to explore and define their ideas and concreteize them into concepts, through participatory dynamics and active educational activities.

The european project will continue throughout the 2023-2024 year and will end in June next year.

EU Water Challenge VET Labs

Last Tuesday, 2nd, we started our new project: EU Water Challenge VET Labs. We also enjoyed the meeting with our EU partners on this new project. It will be a FPLab Metropolis scaled internationally with innovative pedagogy, ecological thematics and FP at the centre of everything. Thank you very much to our partners, let’s do this!
