In this study, an X-ray in terms of VET of the current situation in the electric vehicle sector in the province of Barcelona is carried out. The study aims to know the main trends and dynamics of the labour market in this sector and identify the training needs that companies detect among their staff. On the one hand, the future trends of this sector are described and the most demanded, difficult to cover and emerging profiles are identified. On the other hand, the VET offer of the education system and the VET for employment linked to the sector is exposed and analyzed- mainly of professional families of mechanical manufacture, transport and maintenance of vehicles and electricity and electronics, making special reference to their strengths and weaknesses. The innovative training offer that is being promoted by the different subsectors of VET (specialization courses, training actions designed by professional guilds with the support of administrations, etc.) is shown, and also, from the university area, in order to respond to the strong professional qualification needs that this sector, inmersed in a profound transformation, has. In short, the ultimate aim of this study is to point out potential opportunities for improvement associated with strategic planning and the design of the VET training offer.
The study was based on a survey in which more than 200 organizations from the sector participated and 17 interviews with different key agents . It has been developed by the BCN VET Foundation with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.
