This study analyzes how well the curricula of vocational training programs are suited to provide the qualifications needed by the productive sectors with a good prospect in Barcelona and its metropolitan region. It also identifies the main problems that hinder the planning of the vocational training that should actively contribute to the development of the economic sectors analyzed. It proposes guidelines for public policies to help solve these problems and to lay the foundations of effective mechanisms to this effect. This study has been promoted by the VET Observatory of the BCN Vocational Training Foundation with the support of Barcelona Metropolitan Strategic Plan, Barcelona Provincial Council and Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.
